The wheke head has been designed in the Rongowhakaata/Kahnungunu style as Rakaipaaka is the grandchild of Kahungunu.
The inspiration for this piece was from the story of Rakaipaaka and Tū-te-kohi and although he said his sister was banished, he stood prideful and strong.
Moumoukai
The tapatoru is the strongest and sturdiest shape of them all, prefect for resembling our Maunga.
Our Maunga were key to the survival of our people. Moumoukai was rich and plentiful in natural resources that have been incorporate and show in the design.

Taniko a type of weaving design, this symbolises the kotahitangi of the Hapu, Marae and whānau of this Rohe.
Te Awa o Nuhaka
(Gold)
The gold represents the Awa o Nuhaka. It intertwines and flows through everything from the maunga through to the people of Nuhaka because it is the source of life, Te Mauri.
